Collection: Somdej Series
This 17-tiered Somdej amulet was consecrated by Thailand’s Ninth Supreme Patriarch (the highest Buddhist authority) in the Buddhist year 2536 (1993 CE). Revered as the “King of Buddhist Amulets,” the Somdej embodies the philosophy of “adapting to circumstances” from the I Ching (Book of Changes). The number 17 symbolizes dynamic harmony—advancing or retreating as life demands while maintaining optimism through life’s fluctuations. The amulet strengthens inner resilience, dissolves negativity, and empowers renewal for new beginnings.
Crafting Ritual
Sacred Materials:
“Seven-Star Soil”: Collected from seven spiritually potent sites (e.g., temples, riverbanks, and mountain shrines).
Natural Binders: Mixed with mucilaginous plants (traditionally used for cohesion and blessings).
Mantra Powder: Over years of daily prayers, monks inscribe sutras on temple walls. The resulting powder, imbued with sacred energy, is gathered and blended into the amulet’s core.
Creation Process:The soil mixture is molded into sacred forms and sun-dried.During Buddhist Lent (a three-month monsoon retreat), the amulet is infused with mantra powder and prayers.
Finally, it is immersed in blessed water for 100 days, achieving a state of spiritual imperviousness.
The 108 Bodhi Seed Philosophy:
In Chinese tradition, the number 108 represents the cosmic cycle - combining the four seasons, 24 solar terms (traditional seasonal markers), and 72 pentads (five-day natural cycles). Holding this string is like grasping the rhythm of time itself, connecting you with nature's eternal cycle of renewal.
Cultivating bodhi seeds mirrors life's journey:
- Each Moonlight Bodhi seed requires time and polishing to reveal its inherent beauty
- Every natural groove tells a story of weathering life's challenges
- The gradual transformation symbolizes personal growth through perseverance
This meditation tool teaches:
✓ The wisdom of patience (each seed needs 3-5 years to mature)
✓ The art of mindful dedication (daily care creates lasting luster)
✓ The philosophy of organic growth (authentic character develops naturally)
May this mindful practice inspire your personal growth and empower you to become the best version of yourself through perseverance and self-cultivation.
